you all to post more beautiful photos of AK.

Here's one taken in August of 2006 on the Haul Road near the Dietrich and Bettles R. confluence looking east.

Taken with a point and shoot Nikon Coolpix 5700.

If you have the time, keep more photos coming.

Thanks for posting Larry, I really hope to get up to this area next fall. The landscape is always so dramatic & wild.

For the last 5 days we've been up to our necks and deeper in an industrial shoot, Larry. Monday I was suspended 80 feet up in the air in a cherrypicker waiting for the next phase of shooting, and couldn't pass up the approach of a fishing boat into the harbor. I like the results well enough to think I'll be exchanging the 6' step ladder in my truck for a 10' model. Can't beat a little (or a lot) extra elevation for adding drama to photos!

Nikon D2X @ 100ISO, Nikkor 12-24mm lens.

I'm always interested in posting photos of Alaska, Larry!

I won a slot in the Denali NP drive through lottery this year so here is a couple from that high power, one day safari.

The good news is that we saw some Dall sheep on the way in. The bad news is that my Sony R-1 camera may be great for landscapes but only goes to 120mm equivalent on the long end. I had to settle for Dall sheep in their landscape context.

The really good news was that we saw them again on the way back and were able to get very, very close. To give you some idea just how close, this shot was taken at approx. 67mm with the same R-1 and isn't cropped!

Really nice comp on #1 Gary. I actually prefer "environmental portraits" as I call them to closeups. Speaking commercially, our larger views always sell better than closeups, too!

I agree with Hank, love the "environmental portraits" - they tell a greater story than the standard headshots or even the full frame shots. They give context, yours is a great example. It shows how rugged their territory is and how difficult their day to day life is. Nicely done!

It was a great fall in Chugach State Park. The trees on south side of the park are still hanging on to their leaves, though that will end after this weekend because gust up to 90MPH along the Arm are predicted for tomorrow!!!!

I hope it translates well for you Carl, but they just canceled our high wind warning (75mph).

And that's more color than I've EVER seen in the Anchorage area! :toast:

Nice bunch of pictures!
- Yeah, I want to get up the haul road, too. I've flown over it and done a bit of flying around up there, but haven't done any photography.
- Love that shot of the of the boat, Hank. Kodiak looks surprisingly dry in that picture. Another place we want to get to...
- Great picture of the sheep, Gary, and like the others, I much prefer the first one. We managed to get into the park, too, on a friend's ticket.
- Yes, that is a lot of color, Carl, but I bet it's all gone now!!! The leaves pretty much disappeared from the peninsula over the last week. We're now into the rain and flooding season.

More color than I have ever seen in the Chugach, it was all isolated around Eklutna and Eagle River valleys. But is long gone.

No real risk Larry, but very long days. My wife did her share, too! These are two views of her that I pulled into one frame for our promos. Lift shooting is great fun, but not for the queezy. There is lots of swaying as it moves, and especially on windy days!
