This is a shot of Bonanza Falls taken about a week ago just after sunrise. The falls is just south of Silver City outside Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. I had hoped to shoot at Lake of the Clouds at sunrise but sunrise wasn’t very good and the wind was blowing so hard I could hardly standup let alone keep the camera steady.
I spent an entire morning at Bonanza Falls in October of 2003. I lost the light long before I ran out of things to shoot, as the site was an embarrassment of riches from a photographer's point of view. Judging from this image and what's on your Web site, you mined this spot very effectively, Phil.
Absolutely spectacular, Phil! Another place to go on my life list...

Great shot, Phil. It looks like there was some nice color there a week ago. I found this location difficult to shoot well, but you've done a great job handling all the elements very nicely. Well seen and executed.
Yes this is a great place to shoot right off of the road. The irony is that I drove past the location numerous times and never notice it until this spring when I stopped. Now it is one of the places I always stop because it is constantly changing.

Thank you Philip for posting this. And adding a possible POI for a trip that we embark on tomorrow. UP here we come! Thank you Phil for the inspiration.

The interesting part about this falls, and Kerry's trip there a few years ago (I was there as well) is that we almost didn't stop there. It was a "Well, we're passing it and it is a bit early for lunch type of stop." With good light and good color, you could easily spend entire day there and never go further than 50 m from where your tripod is sitting.
Thanks for posting. It brings back good memories of that trip.
