On my way over to the CANP meet up at Silver Lake I decided to make a U-turn real quick and take a few shots from the beach on the northeast side of June lake. The falling snow had abated at this moment but the remains created nice patterns on the sand.
woah! those are some really sweet snow patterns Mike! With the 'boring' light, but the wonderful contrasts, I'd be really tempted to try a B&W.

Cool stuff Ryan. I really like those snow patterns in the sand as well. And the lake and mtns look great also. Thanks for posting a shot from the same time but a different angle on things. What a glorious morning!
One thing you might try with this image is a bit of a pano crop from the top. Just in scrolling a bit of the sky out of the scene it seems to add more emphasis to the cool sand patterns.

Great pattern with the snow and sand. Really draws you in to the whole scene. I agree with Floris and the dull lighting - a B&W might work well with this one. Thanks for the post and looks like all of you had a great time up there.

Looks like everybody at the gathering was scrambling for pix before 11 am, I'm really liking everything I'm seeing from all of the folks who were there and some who have posted that were out there on the same weekend but weren't CANP members. Really appears it was a magical weekend in the eastern Sierra. Like this alot Mike, the snow melty patterns really add to the scene.

Mike,
Great take on June Lake. The patterns on the beach of course steal the show and I really like the low point of view - it actually gives the impression of compressing the height of the background peaks.
I'm curious how you got to the beach. I'm pretty sure the campground at that end of the lake is shut down - did you have to walk from the gate or can you just drive down to the parking lot at the beach?
Definitely worth the U-turn. Nice meeting you at Silver Lake too!

What cool looking fg. With better light this could be quite fantastic. Getting one's self to pull the trigger and turn the car around can be hard sometimes, but this looks to be well worth the effort. Nice find!
