I just rented a canon 24-70 and a 24-105. The 24-70, when fully extended, has a shaky barrel which pivots up to two degrees. I am wondering if this could affect corner sharpness if at an angle. I am looking at corner to corner sharpness to compare the two. Thanks for the help.
I went back to Pro-photo supply today and they exchanged it for a different one. The agreed there was an issue with the attachment with the housing and barrel.

Just to put my thoughts in here,
i did the same comparison a couple of months back and the 24-70 came out way on top for me.
plus the added advantage of the f/2.8 made it superior to the 24-105 in my eyes.
