McGee Creek, in the Eastern Sierras.
This was made a week ago on a late afternoon hike with Rudy Ruberti and Steve Sieren. The creek is right below the rock. I liked the contrast between the warm colors of the aspens Aspens and the cold, jagged rock formations beneath them. The rocks are a great candidate for some detailed abstracts, but I would have needed something longer than 200mm (this is at 70mm).
Comments and critiques greatly appreciated. Feel free to be completely honest. Thanks for looking!

Nice color. McGee Creek is one of my favorite Fall Color locations.

I was there too Matt on Sunday morning you guys certainly hit the spots. I'm curious did you walk up the trail to capture this image? I particularly like the juxtaposition of the nicely changed aspen with the ones starting to turn. I know we all try not to overdue color intensity, but this might be a tad underdone, I really would like to see that orangish aspen really pop against the late blooming green ones. But that's personal it's very nice the way it is. IMO the power of the image is the contrast between color changed and not color changed.
Very nice one here, Mat. For the lack of color this year this image is about as good as it gets with that factor. I might also boost some contrast/saturation just a bit to see how it looks.

Considering that this was not one of the better years for fall color, this is
a good shot. Well done, Mat.

The trunks really stand out here and the cliff makes me wonder how far the drop is even though I already know.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!
This is 2-3 miles up from the trailhead parking lot. It was a whole lot better up that far. I think I took the orange as far as far as I'm willing to go, but I might try playing with the yellows and greens some more.
