Hi Folks,
My name is Hendrik (without the "c" ) and I hail from South Africa. I`m an Exploration Manager in Geology which afford me the opportunity to travel and see places which I will otherwise only dream of. Currently I`m working in the West African country of Guinea.
I`m planning on visiting the American Southwest (Arizona & Utah) during 2010 and will definitely be calling on you for support and direction
I`m planning on doing some postings in the near future.
That is one of the most beautiful areas of SA .The land of Penguins - sharks and whales and wonderfull beaches with scenery to match
I come from PE and then JHB.

I`m sure that I`ll learn a LOT from all You People.
The only problem that has now come to the fore is that I`d like to invite you all over to visit me in South Africa in order to show you "THE WORLD IN ONE COUNTRY"
Unfortunately my work schedule makes it very difficult to plan for a long period in advance
Having said that though, could you indicate to me whether a 10 day stay will be too short for a photographic expedition?

Welcome. You will have lots of fun in the southwest ! Be sure to visit Monument Valley, Antleope Canyon, Canyon de Chilly and if you can get a permit go to "The Wave". Your geology background will certainly come into play at all these locations. Our daughter is senior in college and a geology major herself. (Recently returned from Svalbard to do research for her senior thesis.) She is currently applying to grad schools for coastal geology. She loved the southwest. Any questions about that area just ask. Also feel free to look at my photos of the area @
Thank you for a warm welcome. You have definitely whetted my apatite so to speak. I know where Antelope Canyon is but will really like coordinates for the other places including "The Wave". The following your daughter should understand. I`d like to have the azimuth of the canyons other than the Antelope. I believe that somewhere along Route 89 about 6.75km South from the Route 89/Road 98 junction the is also a less visited canyon that also has very good photo opportunities.
Please advise me as how to go about applying for a permit for "The Wave".
Where are you from/ Town? Would it be possible to accompany me there? Somebody suggested that I spend at least 2 days with the canyons.
I don`t want to look at your photo`s because jealousy makes me nasty.
All the photo`s I`ve seen from that area has driven me up the wall !!!
