Can anyone tell me how the colors are doing
around Cuyahoga Valley N.P.?
I plan on being in that area next weekend Oct 18th.
Will it be peak or past peak? Leaves still on the trees. Trees full ? Any and all information would be helpful.
Thanks
Joe

Not sure if this helps, it doesn't list Cuyahoga Valley, but does list colors across the state.

I realize that this doesn't help you for this year, but it usually doesn't peak until the last weekend of October. Technically, this is the 25 but might extend to Nov 1, depending on weather.

I recently saw a NPS website that was predicting for around the 25'th as well.

But having said that, Fall might come early. We are getting a lot of color down in Dayton, but it really hasn't changed yet. Whatever happens this year, I think it is going to to happen fast.

If you have any location questions, feel free to ask here. I've shot it a lot and there are a couple of people here who live or lived near there.

I'd bring your camera anyway. There should be enough color and down leaves that at least the waterfalls will be pretty.

Thanks Joel and Dan.
I know it is always difficult to say exactly when colors are at their peak from year to year.
But I will be in the area for about a week so I may be able to catch some places where the colors are good.Thats what makes photography so challenging and fun.Is when conditions are not ideal that you take what nature has given you and make the best out of it.Thanks again for your input.

Joe, I think your timing will be pretty good. In Youngstown, about 50 miles SE, there is quite a bit of color already. It typically peaks around 10/21-23.

Joe, hopefully Chuck Beatty can help you out. You might want to shoot him an email, and see if he has any info for you.

Joe...in case you haven't seen it, Chuck has posted in the sticky note thread (Fall Colors 2009) regarding the CVNP waterfalls and color conditions.
