I though I may give you guys an idea of what the color is looking like up at Richland right now. Twin Falls has a little more color than Richland Falls and the dogwoods are at peak right now, in my opinion. A few maples look really good and the Gums at Falling water are starting to show some color. The Dogwoods really look awesome right now. A lot of water this weekend I came in from the North Friday night and couldn't cross devils fork until Saturday morning.

To my eye this is a top shelf waterfall image. I think you should post it in EES to see what the serious "landscape" guys have to say. Some might object to that single extended twig on the right, but I don't see it as a big distraction. Again, I think this is extra special because of how the main subject waterfall also becomes a big leading line that takes the eye way into the far background. Great work.

I am so JEALOUS! My daughters' high school volleyball tournament in Conway took precedence however. I am planning to leave Monday night for a couple of days. Perhaps even a trip to Wyatts' Folly..which I see Tim E made a trip to also. And it wasn't very easy getting into or out of for him either....ceptin a course he didn't get lost!

And the image is fantastic of course. It captures the Arkansas Ozarks in the fall!

and I think Tim had 50 pounds of camera gear as well. My entire pack for this trip with tent, sleeping bag, food, water, some clothes and camera gear was only 40 pounds. I couldn't image hauling all his camera gear along with stuff for sleeping.

Hey Matt! Now that's a bunch of water. That looks dangerous! It looks like it was worth the effort. Karla and I were in the area too. The color is just not here yet. Below is Six Fingers. We also checked out War Eagle Mill, Hobbs area on Beaver Lake, Kings River Falls (and falls on the off shoot stream), Falling Water and finaly Six Fingers. It was an all day deal hop-skipping around and shooting fast. Next weekend should look good and hopefully full color for the gathering Oct 28th.

Mike I stopped by Falling Water and Six Fingers on Friday but it was too high and muddy for anything great. The Dogwoods along falling water rd looked good though.

Outstanding shot Matt! I bet that was quite a trip! The POV is just great! It really leads the eye in to the falls. I'm glad you were able to challenge the area and make it out there for us!

Really nice, Matthew. The foreground rock made a great focal point here. Well-done!

Awesome light in the first image! It's pretty much perfect out there right now.

Fantastic image Matt. I assume you had to be standing in that rushing water to get that shot.

thanks everyone. John I was standing a a very slick flat rock that was just out of the water.

Jon are you the one that we spoke with? I ran into a few people and someone asked me how much further and my GPS said two miles.

Well good to meet you then. Yea I was surprised at the number of people also. I hope all of them made it out by dark. You get any good shots?

Mathew this extreme wide angle perspective is great! All these great fall waterfall images are almost too much to handle. ...almost

Ed this isn't that wide 32mm on my little crop sensor, so 49mm in 35mm world. I was just very low.

Hey Matt, here is the photo I took yesterday of Richland just a little farther back from where you were standing. The color has progressed a little more in 6 days.

How do you post a reply and have the image show up like Mike's did of six finger falls?
Posted by Matthew Kennedy on October 16, 2009 at 6:46 PM
I assume you enter the HTML of the pic, but I also believe you have to be a paying member.
