Inspired by the images here, I am thinking of popping along in the next few days.

Are there any particulat spots to head for?

thanks,

Hi,

Indeed, the car park near Pen Ponds is your best bet, not only is it the most central it presents the best opportunities for atmospheric images. Head Left and as Julian says listen for the loudest roars.... there are a few good stags in the area....

Early morning is best.... good luck.

The Pen ponds is good starting point as said, but I often opt for entering at Richmond Hill gate and walking straight ahead towards the centre of the park (where the ponds are). The advantage is that you can usually enter on foot before the gates open to cars and so have a chance to locate your target a bit earlier. In my experience the best locations for regular interactions are around halfway between the gate and the pond but as Phil says this varies and you've got to just follow your ears. I often head there early on a Sunday and take advantage of the free parking on the road leading up from the town centre. On the way back to Richmond gate you can pick up a pretty decent breakfast at the cafe (200yds to the left of the gate as you look out of the park) too!

Many thanks for the info. I might have found them eventually, but it is a big park.

Had to take a raincheck for a couple of days, but hope to get there soon.

...if only for the breakfast - sounds good!
