A trip to Filey Brigg to capture some wader shots and came across this little gem of a bird just sat on the rocks.

Mark 1D Mark III, 500mm f/4 + 1.4tc @ f/5.6, 1/320sec, ISO 400

Thanks for looking

Obviously a weekend for passerines to sit on rocks (see my posting below). Lovely shot, but where were all the waders? Only gulls, crows and robins on my local beach.

Great shot Steve. It often happens that when you go out to shoot one subject another one presents itself too. Did you get some waders too??

What a delightful little surprise for you! A lovely pose and good b/g colour, perhaps a tad more room across the top but otherwise a very fine image.

Very nice indeed. Agree with Fran about a bit more room at the top (if thats possible) but I would be very happy to have taken this. Never yet managed one :toast:

Thanks for all your comments. Great shot of the Robin David, I did manage to get some wader shots Rob, just working my way through them. I quite agree about leaving a bit more of the image above the bird, thanks Maggie & Fran for pointing that out. :wavey:

Love the subtle background Steve.

A little gem indeed! Posing perfectly! I agree a little more room at top would be nice. I hope you don't mind, but I took this into CS4 (just upgraded) to try out the "content aware scale" tool. I just pulled the handle down a little and it is incredibly powerful. I could have gone a bit further, but at some point, distortion occurs.
