Common Seal Pup
I have made an effort this Autumn to get some images of common seals and this is a shot I have been after for a while. The conditions were perfect on Sunday as there was a strong wind and this was blowing the sand around producing some very atmospheric conditions.

Lovely image Danny, the shapes in the sand draw your eye straight to the seal. Overall it works really well.

The windswept sands are certainly very atmospheric. At first I thought I would prefer the pup further down in the image but the more I look at it I think it is perfectly placed giving a feeling of isolation.

Was nice to meet you on Saturday and thank you again for your kind comments.

A small nit on a most excellent image, a wee wee bit anti-clock may help the lie of the seal.

That is very different and what I would expect from you, certainly not your average shot.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I'd still be trying to persuade the mrs to get out of the car!!!!

Cheers Guys

I was a bit worried about how it looked because I think my screen is playing up and I am not sure whats wrong. Andy no probs I must admit you looked lost but then again if you were going with someone and then they got grounded for bad behaviour must behave himself

Still in the dog house, boy is going to cost me this weekend.

PS.
Comp and tones are bang on . This really is a cracker ,atmosphere and the sense of isolation perfect..
Now bog off you've got me in enough trouble.

Very very nice indeed. I love how the sand pattern and tonality echoes the seal fur. I like this sort of offbeat composition too - very appealing. Empty space in a well composed image is rarely wasted space. Nice one sir!

Cracker Dan - but I would rotate a smidge a/c as Tom suggests - 0.63 degress CCW looks just right.

Great shot mate :wavey: :toast:

Beautiful and peacefull image Danny. Don't you just love the sand:) Couldn't trust my AF the last time I was there. It kept trying to focus on the sand. You did a great job and the minor nit has been mentioned.
