Fall, Gibraltar Rock
Hi all,

Yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day to be out in Wisconsin. We went to an apple orchard, and then for a short hike with the kids to the top of Gibraltar Rock. So, whilst I was enjoying the scenery and shooting, my wife was busy & apoplectic, keeping the kids away from the edge... ;)

Pentax K20D, f/11, ISO 200, 1/20", 26mm lens, polarizer; tweaked with a bit of my friend Tk's luminosity masks...

Enjoy,

Tim!

Nice shot, Tim. I was out as well, but the reason was more along the lines of the Bears & Packers having byes.
Having never visited, can one walk to the rock edge, or no, it looks like sandstone.

Hi Bruce,

Yes, I was enjoying the same excuse, in part - no Packers game! ;)

And, yes, you can walk right up to the edge, no problem. See: "Mountains without Handrails," by Joseph L. Sax... ;)

Nice view looks to be pretty green there yet.

Great view, Tim! Will you be shooting this scene again when the colors peak?

Hi Toni,

I hope so, but we'll see. There are a couple of places that I want to go, but the calendar and the weather aren't being too kind over the next few weeks...

Great shot, Tim. I've just added it to my 'locations of the midwest" file. The nice hints of fall color, the light on the cliff and the river in the bg all come together very nicely here. As far as the Packers, though, all I can say is Go Lions!

Looks like a great location to shoot. I see it is not too far from Devil's Lake so I've added it to my list for next week.

Nice image, Tim. I love the protruding bluff.
