Posted as an image of interest. Came upon this Golden Eagle two weeks ago along 287 heading to Wyoming. Bad conditions 1:00pm hot and it was located two feet off the road. Cropped to take out vehicle. Got 3 shots hand holding my 500 f.4 before a pickup came along and swayed off the road almost killing all involved

A good documentary shot of a graphic reality. Including the road surface sure tells the story.
Kinda wish he had picked up his head for you.

Amazing, normally goldens are not carrion feeders, they prefer to kill their own meat! Unless of course he did!

Wow. Deja vu. I saw the same scene just 2 days ago and several hundred miles away - just North of Monticello, UT. The only difference is that the golden was feeding while fending off a group of ravens. Funny how a golden eagle makes a raven look the size of a house finch.

Saw a bald eagle chowing down on a pronghorn on the side of the highway near Pinedale, Wyoming last year. Bald eagles are always shown in very powerful or patriotic poses. It was strange to just seen one standing around chewing on roadkill. Maybe he didn't get the memo.
