I kind of like this image but something tells me it won't have a whole lot of appeal. So I'm curious what some of you think. If it works for you great, but if it doesn't, I'd be interested to hear why if you care to share. Thanks for your time.

I like the simplicity of it. However, I wish that it were more colorful.

Mike. the only incongruity i see is the light color of the granite under the water on the side of the rock, are the tops of the rocks algae covered? Technically and compositionally it's fine, but it is lacking something. This might be a good candidate for BW conversion.
Works for me Mike, well balanced, perfect shutter speed, and nice dynamic forms. I would be tempted to bring up the saturation of the gold reflections a bit, which might be what's missing for others?

Mike,
Not sure what your "experiment" was, but the results are fantastic. This is they kind of image/scene that I'm always on the lookout for and I would love to have found this. The shutter speed is perfect here - long enough for a smooth look, but not soo long that all the detail in the water is lost. Excellent, excellent! Perhaps you could tweak/bump the golds for more pop, but it's not an improvement suggestion, but more of an alternate. I love this as presented.
I really like this! Like Lon, I search for these kinds of scenes. Your shot is excellent! I agree that a bit more pop in the golds would be cool.
Since this was an experiment, you might try tweaking the curves for the high and 1/4 tone values above the midtones to bring them up just a little. Also, take a peek at cropping down from the top to just above the light-toned water area on the upper rock as an alternative.
Nice work, Mike!

This is a very nice image IMO. The composition uses very nice shapes and lines to create a very good balance throughout the image. Two things I think may strengthen the image would be to increase the contrast quite a bit (right now it is mostly dark and mid tones). I think that would really make the shapes and colors pop. I also might consider a composition that includes the complete water fall edge on the left side of the frame. I was thinking that might strengthen the nice "z" shape line that runs down through the image. That may not be compositionally possible, but that is what ran through my mind when I first looked at this.
I know that sounds like a lot, but really it is very minor in relation to an already well crafted image. Nice find!

A perfectly balanced composition, and a nice shutter speed choice to preserve some interesting textures. I really don't think there's anything wrong with this at all. If anything, bumping up the whites a little might give it some pop, but if this was taken in deep shade, you may want to leave this as is.

looks like it's reflecting something pretty luminous so I'd pop the hilights.
