If you happen to be in the Bluff, Utah area around Nov. 13 and you were as fascinated as I was by the recent discovery of the remains of Colorado Plateau wanderer Everett Reuss nearby, then you may want to attend a panel discussion titled 'Everett Reuss-Final Desert Trail' during the Bluff Arts Festival.
The panel will include all of the principals involved in the discovery: author David Roberts, who wrote about the discovery in 'National Geographic Adventure' magazine; local Navajo resident (..and a man whom a few RMNP'ers are familiar with )
Denny Bellson, who's grandfather witnessed Reuss' murder; Navajo tribal archaeologist Ron Maldonado;
and local guide extraordinaire Vaughn Hadenfeldt.
Roberts and Hadenfeldt also traversed Comb Ridge in its entirety and wrote about the experience
in the excellent book titled 'Sandstone Spine'.
Should be an interesting two hours, and for just $5! I'll definitely be there that weekend.
John - Thanks for posting this. I'm putting it on my calendar. I love David Roberts' books and would welcome the opportunity to hear more about his adventures. On the other hand, since we know where Mr. Bellson will be, maybe I'll skip the panel discussion and head to PH instead.
On a related topic, have the willows in that part of Chinle Wash started to turn yellow yet?

John,
I'm right there with you and CAZ, I so enjoyed Roberts' books, and the opportunity to view and hear Bellson in daylight (especially for five bucks) is just too good to pass up. I'm going to try my darndest to be there....
