Hey Scott: if you are there? Couldn't find you in the members in our section, but I know you are resident in the U.P. and post here often. I am considering a weekend trip to Marquette and Big Bay area this weekend. It is a 7 hour drive for me, and we will be off to Maine next week, so I don't want to make that much of a drive if the leaves have all blown off or it is way past peak. Can you give me any insight on the foliage conditions up there?

Andy, I'm not Scott, but we just returned from photographing in the UP, from Grand Marais to the Marquette area and Baraga/L'Anse. Color was peaking in areas, past in spots, hadn't peaked yet in spots. We returned early as the weather was going south - we left as it began to snow with the forecast calling for up to 2 inches of the stuff mixed with rain, with lake effect going through yesterday (Tuesday). It was raw too. Battled windy/breezy conditions. We were chasing waterfalls mostly and the flowage was good. Color ranged from well into fall color to one fall looking mostly green. Frost too. Waterfalls in the Baraga area were prime or close to it, but witrh the forecast not sure what is left on the trees. Sunday was our best day with a mix of sun, and snow flurries and moody skies.

Wow, what a trip....I have been reading this note from Andy at least a dozen times, trying to reply. Unfortunately, my login did not work all of sudden. Had some troubled cookies I guess.
Anyways, I was able to contact Andy in a round about way and things are cool.
Also, thanks to Editor Jim at HQ for suggesting some fixes for my login trouble.

Steve: Thanks for the information. By the time I read it, I was already back

Had a good trip (stayed mainly in the areas between Marquette and Munising and in the NF south of Munising). Great Color! I reported on conditions in the "sticky thread" on Fall Foliage Conditions.
