thank god. something that means i won't have to lug a video and a camera and a housing for each on an aeroplane. or alternatively, leaving one of them behind, and only doing one or the other. if you made someone a promo web video like the one seen on the site, you would pay for the camera with one job. a simple decision. i will be getting one.

I must say The VM video is very impressive ( summer variations) if you have the band width. Some of it looks like its at Ole's place ( the gulls) .The real player conversion isn't so good on full screen mode . Its certainly worth a look for all brand users.

I'll stick with my 3.
I agree with Andy A 16 mp seems the obvious step forward, but cramming that many pixels on a 35mm frame size brings its own set of restrictions
It'll come ...no doubt .
Enjoy your new toys Rene.Let us know how you get on with them.
I must be the only one to see this as more than a lateral move, This is an 's' model so its an enhancement rather than a new model and for an 's' model i think that Nikon have added some great features-sensor cleaning, live view button and silent mode all do it for me and as nature togs any improvement in iso has to be a good thing-the D3 was a ground breaking camera and this just enhances that, I dont think 's' models are made for people with D3's to upgrade to but make the current model last longer in the market-me i think that this could be worth forking out to upgrade to, if you want more MP's then wait for the D4 in a year or so time

Higher ISO is very impressive, not sure it's worth upgrading for though now the specs are official...?!

So you are basically paying over £1000 for a stop and a half extra performance - no thanks
And if you want to shoot HD video go XDCam-HD or higher - I know which footage OSF would buy
Now if Nikon want to do something really useful then they should bring out a 15/16Mb version of the D3 and drop the video gimmick.
