Autumn is a great time of the year. This is (I think) a Sow-Thistle
showing the life cycle in progress. There's a lot of metafore here..,
and I also wanted a new photo for my website homepage.
A picture really is worth a thousand words.
Nikon D200, Sigma 150 2.8 Macro lens, extension tubes, macro slider, off camera flash, etc...
It took 20 minutes to set this up and by the time I was ready, it was dark. I used a LED flashlight to help focus, and made 15 exposures before I hit on this one. The lone seed was added to the composition for effect and perspective. Noise ws reduces with brushes in PS.
Comments are welcome.

This is just such a beautiful expression of so much, Dave! I hope that you'll post this elsewhere on NPN, like the Flora gallery - they'll love it, too...

Excellent work, Dave!
The time you put into getting this image shows that diligence and patience pay off. If I was to suggest any changes be made, it might be to clone out the stick on the left side, but that isn't a big distraction.

This is an excellent photo all the way around! I love the light and the added effect of the lone seed. While I'm glad you mentioned how you added the seed, I would have loved to hear that you were right there clicking away when the seed broke free. Still, a very effective photo beautifully captured.
