Well, not quite Richmond or Bradgate Park, but one of my favourite locations, the Cairngorms. Sadly not quite an 'eight+' pointer, however it will do for me. Yes, perhaps a fraction smaller in the frame to get all of the 'rear' in and a little more at the foot, but there is always next time.

A fine portrait Stephen.

Hi Stephen,
Great portrait of this Red Deer! There seems to be a red cast to the imge wich might be from late afternoon light. I tried to correct it but perhaps this is not the way you have experienced the moment.

I , i prefer the first image to be honest, i like the light in that one
Have dropped it a fraction as the light was that red/warm (?). Might not have been quite fire engine red though
Thanks Jeroen Sadly the 'system' will not allow me to repost at present

Hi Stephen,
I guess the "truth" is somehwere in the middle indeed as my version is somewhat "greyish".
Lovely image anyway and good use of DOF.

That'll do nicely .Loved it when I first saw it ,a fine portrait with some special light. .The image has picked up a tadge of red and shows no adopted colour profile when opened from here so that may be affecting the hue/sat .A tap on auto curves puts it back to rendering I got from you.
A fine image.

Like it as posted Steve, the warm colours work well on this one.

I too prefer the first version, the warm colours make this a real cracker. Love it.
A great strong portrait but I'm inclined to prefer the colour to be somewhere between the first and second postings.

I think it is just about right Steve and a superb image. Rightly or wrongly I prefer the first version because the rich colours really give it an autumn atmosphere (for me anyway), although I willingly accept that the colours in the second might be more accurate. Actually, it highlights the difference between a straightforward record shot and an image that conveys something deeper to the viewer. After all B+W can be very evocative but it rarely exists in reality. Why shouldn't colour be used to enhance an effect?
Nice one. Eric
Eric it is always good to receive a reply from you, as I feel it is consistently well balanced and I agree with your last comment. Yes I did 'tweak' it slightly, however on converting from RGB to sRGB I might have added a bit too much, as pointed out by Jeroen. The A3 print from the 'original' file I guess is more in keeping with the 'compiled' views.
One more for the first one vote. Superb complimentary colours.

Jon

Nice portrait Stephen and well balanced. I too agree that somewhere between the two would be about right for web posting and I'm sure it looks really quite special as an A3 print. Nicely observed and captured moment.
