Last night Nikon announced the release of the new D3s body, and it's now available for pre-order. Expected delivery will be in November.

It's a full-frame, 12.1 MP body with ISO ranging from 200 to 12,800. Suggested retail is $5199. I can't wait to see some night shots with this baby!

I can't find any reliable info on the D700X and it may not exist! The D700S shoots HD video along with quailty images. Canon has cornered the market on the SLR that shoots great HD video. Nikon is trying to get in the door with the "S".

Aaron can give you all the details on the HD quality of SLRs.

The D3s will be a WONDERFUL camera for wedding, portrait, low-light and action/bird photographers. Here's a shot from the D3s at 12800 ISO found on Nikon's site: http://chsvimg.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/slr/d3s/img/pic_006b.jpg

The HD quality on SLR's had surpassed the sharpness, dynamic range and low-light performance on just about any pro HD camera under $20.000. The RED one camera is $18.000 for the body and it has a smaller sensor than the 5D II. Sony's full frame cinema camera is over $100.000. Of course you lose auto focus and tons of other video features, but expect to see a lot of films shot on the Canon 7D, 5D II and even the Panasonic GH1.

Nikon has to catch up to Canon's 1080P and 60 FPS before it will attract most pro filmmakers. 1080p is the standard.

The Canon 7D is the most wonderful SLR "video" camera yet with it's selectable frame rates (24p 1080, 60p 720, 30p 1080) and it can mount even more lenses because it's sensor is smaller than 35FF. The GH1 can mount even more lenses.

Oh my it's exciting!

By the way, I'M SELLING ONE OF MY 5D MARK II's at $2200.00 (all accessories).
