Hello...
My offering on park deer from this morning (1 of 2)
Just to add to the numbers of deer here, I ventured out to Richmond Park to see what I could find myself I don't live too far away (Ealing) so it's fairly easy to get to for me)
There was no real mist or atmospheric fog this morning, it was overcast at daybreak and the light was rather dull. All the deer that I could see were under the tree canopy, and I didn't have my tripod this particular morning I missed a few because of that, so serve me right.
So it was tricky for me, but I was pleased with a few I got by resting on dead wood and trees for stabilisation. I was stuck with 1/90th for most of the time using ISO 800-1600 and a non-VR lens.
However I persevered and was pretty pleased with some of the pictures I took, given my semi-preparedness

You did well to get this sans tripod and in the light that you had. the antlers looka little lost in the bg, but other than that it looks good to me. Good eye contact of the sort that makes you glad to own a long lens. Eric

Great action caught here!
I think cropping vertical to just the deer would improve this somewhat as it would draw more attention to the deer instead of the heavy tree.
The composition works for me, although ideally a little more room on the bottom would be better.
I like vegetation caught on the antlers and the sunlit bracken in the background.

Yes, I would have liked a little more room on the bottom - for his 'legs'. I also wished the vertical branch was absent fom behind him, but you can't always have everything.
Jeroen, I did try the crop you suggested before I posted, but I think I favoured my current one though. Maybe I'll try again and see what happens, who knows, I may change my mind :)
