With every cloud there is a silver lining. Tried the parkway Tuesday and was very disappointed. Frustrated, I headed back home and decided to take a detour to the Unaka Mtn Range. Boy was I rewarded...
Nice colors Harold. Where was this shot? I was on the BRP Monday - Wednesday. If you thought Tuesday was disappointing, you should have been there before and after Tues. I did find some colors between 3000 and 4000 feet. Drove up to Price Lake and found it to be very disappointing. Almost no color left, which was surprising. Rough Ridge was pretty nice around sunset.
I had plans to take the Eastman Camera Club to Grandfather Mtn Saturday but it looks like it will be past peak with a lot of leaves down due to rain. Plus, the forecast is cold and rainy/snowy. I'm looking for a Plan B site.

Sweet! you definitely made the right detour - Great shot. You're right - the BRP has been tough this Fall for any kind of vistas and really good color.

Thanks to all for your comments. As far as the location, I am going to recommend you visit a good friend of mines blog. His name is Mark Peacock and he does a wonderful job explaining how to get to many, many beautiful places here in East TN, Southwest Virginia and North Carolina.. He is not only a Law professor at Milligan College but he is also quite an accomplished photographer. He expresses one of the greatest qualities in life that I strive to achieve “it is in giving that we receive”. He shares exactly how to get to so many places that we search for as nature photographers. A great resource to bookmark for sure.

Footnote: The road up to Roan Mountain would be a real good bet for Sat & Sun this weekend. I was up there today for work project (non-photo) and could have kicked myself for not bringing my camera. It was ABSOLUTELY at peak and you could spend 4 hours just shooting stream and road shots. Starting at Jacks grocery store at bottom of mtn and work your way up to the top!!!!!! Dress warmly..they are calling for daytime temps of upper 30's at that elevation.
