No, no one died - but it kind of feels like it. I heard from Ken and Chris Day today (of Emerald Air Service, in Homer) that they will not be offering bear tours anymore. Emerald Air Service offered the premier option for day tours to the Katmai Coast and tundra for bear viewing and bear photography. Over the years, they have become friends and I learned so much from them and had a great experience every time I traveled with them. Some people are lucky to have a "once in a lifetime" trip, I had several. I wish them the best in any future endeavor they undertake & I for one will definitely miss traveling with them.

I don't know them well, but I have flown with Ken Day. A careful, skillful pilot who knew the country and its conditions well. He'll be missed.
