Green Woodpecker
One of the good bits about sitting for several hours in a pool hide is that you get all sorts going on around, not just in the water.
Several of these feed in the area regularly.
This was the first, a juvenile ,just coming out of the moult. Taken last month.
Usual

A nice shot John, showing the immature colouring/marking very well

Very nicely detailed shot there John and almost camouflaged against the BG. Well seen and taken.

A very nice opportunist shot, although it does not look that relaxed. Needed some gardening, but as is, I would at least clone out the twigs on the left hand side and foreground stone, they do not add anything to the final image.

Thanks all.
Appreciated.
John S - Not really an opportunist shot, as I waited all day for it to come, and you are right it is not relaxed . It didn't like the Nikon shutter noise. But then neither do I ! It came back though !

Great shot John, they are almost reptilian like in this colouration. Unfortunately they are a rare sight around here.

Nicely captured John and there's certainly no shortage of fine feather detail in this one. The daises make for a nice setting too. :toast:

Beautiful detailed shot John. I am afraid this is another of my bogey birds - only ever managed one half decent shot of an adult. :wavey:

Great shot! I don't recall an image that shows the detail better than this. The only thing I might change is the foreground stone - the rest looks very natural.

Excellent capture. Well worth being cooped up in the hide.
