This is from a couple days ago. Munising had some overnight snow, especially to the south of town, and dawn was a mix of rain, snow and intermittent sunshine peeking through the stormclouds. When the sun was out, the light was fantastic and the scene incredible.
The hardest part of the morning was keeping gear dry and free of condensation. A majority of my files were unusable due to the wet conditions and foggy lenses and filters. I did manage to get several clean files, but the panos I tried and the shots of the fleeting rainbow were fogged over in places. Comments welcome.

Strong dramatic image. Well done.
A person needed to stay quite alert during the wild weather swings on 10-10-09 Saturday. Not sure if this image was from that day, but my group did experience some of it.

Scott, thanks for the comments. This wild weather was on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 13. In town there was hardly any snow, but as soon as you turned south on H13 from 28, the snow appeared, and everything was covered in snow until mid-morning. By 10am it was pretty much gone.
Nicely seen. I was at Thornton Lake on that morning. It was one of those rare days where everything came together. It was difficult keeping the camera dry with the rain, snow and wet snow falling from the trees. I just made it back and have not had a chance to look at my photos. Hope mine turn out as well as yours did.

Thanks for the comments, they are greatly appreciated. Phil, that was one crazy morning out there in the Hiawatha National Forest! I'll be looking for you to post something from that morning in the days to come. My small group of four photographers ran into the Gerlachs' group of nearly twenty, and everyone there was trying to capture the scene amid the falling snow and rain while keeping gear dry, which proved to be difficult. Did you see/capture the rainbow?
One of these days we'll run into each other up there. I ran into Nick Bristol at the Overlooked Falls area and we had a nice conversation about everything from photography to the MWNP.

Very nice, Brian. I like the light and snow on the trees...
That's a unique view of Council Lake, Brian. I've been there many times, but I've never seen snow.
It certainly can be challenging shooting at some of these locations when you run into the Gerlachs' workshop. At least there's some room to move around at Council. Try running into them at Red Jack!
