Stag Portrait

Olympus E-3, Nikon 300mm f2.8 AIS manual focus via adaptor

1/100"
F5.6
Aperture priority
ISO 160
No crop.
Focal length eqv. 600mm.
(n.b. exif time is c. 1 hr early).

Taken on Thursday morning at Richmond Park.

I had the impression this individual is used to having his picture taken - very relaxed about posing for me.

Definately seems very relaxed, looks a bit like he's winking at you too! Very nice shot, perhaps a tiny bit tight in the frame, and I feel it needs a bit more room to the right, to balance out the comp. But lovely and detailed, and a good background too. :toast:

Nice portrait... and welcome,

Agree it does need more room to the right and below but appreciate that it is full frame with a prime lens and they don't often give you the chance to zoom with your feet, I would also lower the saturation a little....

I like them BIF so the image is fine for me. I like the expression on its face.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I agree with the above comments, but never the less a great expression captured.

Thanks for the comments - I take on board the comments about saturation, so tuned it down a bit - can be a bit heavy on that button! Not sure if this i've gone too far the other way?

On the subject of b/g, I've got some other shots where this guy was performing some interesting behaviour, but with an out of focus fence behind him - drat.

Hi Mark,

The repost is better re the Saturation, I would reduce it even more...looking again I now think that a lower PoV would have been nice and would have avoided the 'horizon cutting through the neck and the stray grass 'growing' from the stags back.
