Park Deer in Silhouette

This is from the other morning, where I found a relatively obliging male, willing to throw a few poses...

It's a kind of semi-silhouette, and once again I was sans-tripod, finding bits of trunk and deadwood to press my lens up against.

I used a Nikon D700 with a Nikon 300 f/4 and at 1/125, f/4 and ISO 1000.

Very nice framing between the two tree trunks. The lighting works very well for me.

Excellent moody silhouette shot!
Well seen and executed!

I think this works very well indeed. You couldn't wish for a better natural frame for the stag.

Really nice, the semi-silhouette works really well, very dramatic and atmospheric, the autumnal colours in the surroundings are great too. My only thought would be to slice a little off the right, as he seems just a bit to far forward, or too far to the left in the frame, but that's being really picky! Lovely shot!

Hi Dawn,

I made a new crop as you suggested. It seemed obvious once you mentioned it
How's this, then?

The natural frame in this image works really well. Very nice shot and well executed.
