Concentric Circles
I was up in Rocky last Monday morning in an unsuccessful attempt to get some new elk pics, when I noticed this series of cool concentric rainbows framing the sun in the high, thin clouds. At first I only saw the middle one, so the first images totally blocked the innermost ring in the chaos of tree branches. It was only when I stopped the lens down and looked with the DOF preview on that I saw the inner one. The faint outermost one was just a bonus that I discovered when looking at the images on the computer. Trippy, man!

Whoa, I just got a flashback and I never even did drugs  The tree silhouettes make the shot, TC. Wonderful control of the exposure to keep the highlights in reign. :toast:

Groovy. I've seen these in the RMNP clouds a few times too (and, no, it wasn't because I had altitude sickness) but not this pronounced. Nice catch.

Very cool! I think they're called sundogs.

Make mine a double!
Never seen one before until now, and you were sure in the right place when it happened.
Love how the sky darkens outside of the rings. Excellent catch!
