Was at Emerald Lake for sunrise Saturday. The alpenglow on the mountains was nice, but no clouds and too windy for reflections. Did find some nice gnraled tree roots growing on the rocks next to the lake. Thought this twisted root looked almost like a pretzel. Tried a diagonal composition and decided to process it in B&W since color wasn't much of an element. Added some vignetting for creating a better focal point. Comments welcome. Kipp

A bit spooky Kipp! Good processing. Is that a wee face at the top? I wouldn't go there on the 31st!

Hi Bill, it does sort of have that "Blair Witch" feel now that you mention it. Kipp.

Stunning image, Kipp! The b&w treatment works perfectly.
Excellent conversion and processing. The comp works well, as does the subject. Well done!

This is superb (..wanted to say 'gnarly', but hey! ).
I especially like the diagonal composition of the root with what it's resting upon laying vertical in the image.
Outstanding conversion, and the vignette is perfect. You may want to burn down the small bright area of the root near the bottom to better match the surroundings.
Fine art here, Kipp!
