Fall at the Loch
It may be fall on the calendar but at the "Loch" in Rocky Mountain National Park (elev. 10180) it looks & feels more like winter. Strong winds are commonplace at lake side so I bumped the ISO to try to freeze (pun intended) the fg grasses.

I liked the play of light, shadow and snow patterns in this late morning shot.

24 mm, 1/750 @ f/11, ISO 400, MF

beautiful Wayne. I like the sky myself. Nice lines here too, I can see a backwards Z form with the grass and mountains. Definitely not typical fall conditions.

I have been bumping the ISO up a bit shooting waterfalls lately to keep the trees from moving around to much. Tough to keep a balance between water blur and tree stillness though.

Glad you had a safe trip home, Wayne - nice to have you back.

This is really a beautiful snow scene. I like the contrast in mood between the storm brewing in the mountains and the more tranquil lake. Have you tried any B&W conversions with this?

A beautiful image Wayne. Love the snow, I always like them. I guess because we rarely get any here. I have shot in some and it can get cold on those hands. I'd kinda like to see more of the montain in this one.

This is really nice Wayne. From foreground to background composition and detail are great. Nice job in handling the brights and darks within the scene. As Bill pointed out this may make a nice b&w.
Glad you made it back safe.

What a cool shot (pun intended) Really strong composition and love the FG grasses. Great job controlling the exposure on all that white snow. Glad you're back!

Yep, this is pretty cool (pun intended also!)....Not what we think of as fall, but beautiful none the less! I agree with the others...I think this would be a classic BW!

That is a nice Winter scene, Wayne. It looks like you did a good job to stop the grass but you can still tell that the grass is blowing. I like the detail there and in the log.

That must have been from the previous weekend because it was beautiful for me there this past weekend, more like typical Colorado fall weather.
