Since I didn't make it to the Rocky Mountain states this fall and therefore can't participate in the fall colors contest (BOOO....), I thought I'd share my east-of the-Rockies fall color pix. I'm still working on the page, but for now here's what I've got. Hope you like them!

Loved "Beneath Bridal Veil Falls" and "Blue Hen Falls" was gorgeous as well! Beautiful place! I wasn't aware Ohio had a National Park, is it a recent honor bestowed on it?

Well, take heart in the fact that you won the Cuyahoga Valley Nat'.l Park contest!
Some pretty fine work there, Amy.

#4 and #7 really grabbed me. Excellent!

I agree w/Don, that "Beneath Bridal Veil Falls" shot is amazing! A lot of really excellent stuff, Amy, but that shot stood out to me. Great rejects! (We're just jealous of all the colors you get back there.)

"Beneath Bridal Veil Falls" also caught my eye. That's a great start to your page. I'm looking forward to seeing the additions.

I'm sure the fall color competitors are relieved that they don't have to compete with these gaudy colors!

Cuyahoga Valley was a National Recreation Area for as long as I can remember (I grew up nearby). They were fighting for National Park status for a long time, because I believe it would get them more money. The area has a lot of residents though, who fought the designation. The government did a lot of land-grabbing and stuff around there, which pissed a lot of people off. Eventually, some time after I moved to Colorado, they were finally granted National Park status. Don't know all the specifics, since I wasn't there when it happened, but my family still lives in the area, so I heard stuff once in a while. My mom actually volunteers at one of the visitor centers.

The CVNP is not a typical national park. There are no entrance fees, since it was a combination of a lot of small park-like areas throughout a suburban/rural community. But it is a great combination of beautiful natural areas (great fall colors, waterfalls, etc.) and remnants of early-Ohio (canals, locks, farms, covered bridges). Kind of like visiting rural New England, but just outside of Cleveland, of all places.

Unfortunately, I got into photography after I left Ohio, so I don't have any great photos like these. I bring my camera when I go home for the holidays every year, but winter in Cleveland leaves a lot to be desired.

Beanerth BV Falls is my fave as well but there were a few to pick from. Makes me miss the fall in the east! I guess grass is always greener...

Wow, some really great photos Amy! Love the leaves in the beneath Bridal Veil Falls shot. A really great shot!

Beneath Bridal Veil Falls is really great. I was in Columbus Ohio last Monday - Wed and indeed the color was much better then back here in Colorado. I didn't even bring my camera on the trip either. Really nice collection Amy.

Great work, Amy - too many sweet images to single any out.

I saw your posts on Facebook about the trip and couldn't wait to see what you came up with. They're all excellent, but may favorites would probably have to be #9 and then #10. You had some really nice colors out there!

Aim - these are just terrific! I can't wait to see what you shot this morning before heading back to Indy!

Awesome shots, Amy! Gosh, that Beneath Bridal Veil Falls is amazing. :toast:

Excellent stuff, Amy! I have to add to the chorus on Beneath Bridal Veil Falls - I could only wish for a shot that nice!

Ohio looks like it got the best conditions this year. I was in PA this past week and there was little to recommend it this season; early color had been blown off the trees, late color through much of the state was frozen off during the snowstorm that hit much of the north of the state.

Great set of images. I think number 6 is my fav.

Thanks for all the nice comments! I added a few more today. I hope the color looks ok- my monitor is in serious need of calibration. They look over-saturated on my screen.

These are nice! Some of your best stuff...

Love the additions!
These look naturally saturated...certainly nothing extraordinary.
My title for your 'gold' image: 'The Power of Gold' (..well, I tried anyway  ).

Aim - This is enough to actually make me want to return to Ohio - something I swore I'd never do.

Amy, these are all beautiful images. I especially like the ones you got from "Tinkers Creek". Just for some info, the "Tinkers Creek" images you have are actually Deer Lick Creek which does empty into Tinkers Creek, and if you are ever there again I suggest hiking Deer Lick Creek all the way to the confluence with Tinkers it's pretty cool. I grew up not far from the Park and it is a very cool place and had lots of great photo/exploration experiences there. I could go on about the nooks and crannys of the place, but I won't bore anybody any more. Again, excellent images!

Great stuff, Amy! I'm really digging the abstracts! You need to get busy printing these big!
Take care!
