Chips original thread has fallen a ways down, so I'll bump a new post.
On Saturday (yesterday) I ran up the gorge to Lyle, then swung north following the Klickitat to Glenwood, and then on to Trout Lake. I spent the night at Trout Lake, and then came down 141 back to the gorge.
The maple are really good right now on 141, and also in the Klickitat river gorge along Trout Creek Rd./River Route Rd. Amazingly fun stuff; I ran out of time way before compositions.
The cottonwood around Trout Lake are a week or two away from peak, as are the oak along the Klickitat.

Hope it lasts another week (when I can get there)! By the way, can any of you Oregonians report the conditions at Silver Falls S.P.?
The Columbia River Gorge between Hood River and Multnomah Falls is getting dappled in orange. I drove Hwy 35 between Hood River and 26 around Government Camp in Oregon, and the vine maple color is spectacular now. Fruit trees are not quite there yet.

I'll add that last weekend the Grist mill appeared to be around half of peak. There was some yellow, but most of the colorful leaves also had brown spots. I didn't take photos of the Mill due to being underwhelmed by the conditions.
I do notice that next week we're supposed to get 4 days of sunshine. The trees which are just starting to turn in the next few days may be more colorful due to the lack of rain.
Edit: Checked weather again Saturday and the forecast has changed to mostly overcast and rainy next week.
