Storm Brewing on the Beach
I always look at the weather at this time of the year and if it is a stormy windy day I head to the coast. I have photographed seals many times but this year I have set myself a challenge to do them completely different from my usual approach. Not sure if this works and to be honest it loses alot of the appeal at this size.

Canon 1DS MK11, 500mm, 1/640, F11, ISO 200

Works for me Danny, a super image IMO.... (f11, I would have used f4)

I like the stormy mood you have captured.....

A strong image Danny and as you say it will undoubtedly look better bigger.

As usual with your posts, I open them expecting to be inspired and as usual, you never fail to impress. I'm only an amateur compared to some on here but I'll be honest as I expect people to honest with my posts. I'm not sure about the sand in the foreground, dont know what it is, but unsure about it. Dont know whether its because you have detail in the rest of the image and this is completely OOF. Superb capture nonetheless and no doubt will be a big seller. :toast: :toast:

I know one or two things that lose their appeal with size.
This aint one of them .
Danny Green at f11 now that it something .Have a word Phil , he'll be using 400iso next.LOL

Superbly atmospheric Danny - I'd imagine the sand is visibly very wind-blown on the full-rez :toast:

Hello Ian

The wind was so strong it was causing a sand storm that was blowing over the sand banks. I think this part gets lost at this size because you can't see it that well and does look out of focus. Finally I have inspired someone  I also wanted to show that you can get landscape shots of Seals without being to close.

This has everything for me. Sand, choppy waters, rainbow and a pair of seals to boot.

Danny Ignore the rest regarding size. Good things come in small parcels  :wavey:

This is the magic of working in marginal conditions. Too much nature imagery reflects human comfort zones (warm and dry), but the reality in nature for the vast majority of species is having to contend with whatever is tossed at them. Really good to see some of that reflected here. I really like this - its as much about the bigger picture of nature as it is about the intimacy of the seals. Nice one Danny!

Hi Danny,

This image is superb. Low pov, perfect light and the rainbow is a bonus, what more could a man want?

Great use of all the elements. Your brain was working well when you took this one.

A cracking image - and as everyone says needs to be seen big. I love the crashing wave in the background - we don't see enough of these type of images IMHO

cheers

I'm a bit behind as usual Danny, but I just wanted to say how good I think this is. F11 works well giving the breakers just the right amount of emphasis.

I have kept coming back to this Danny and finally decided to post. Not sure what it is but it does not sit quite right with me. Maybe just because it so is different to the norm.
