Kestrel on a gate
When I left home it was cloudy with good visibility. When I arrived at Elmley it was a fine misty rain for most of the morning, but I persevered since it is a 60 mile drive for me. Just as I took a break for lunch I spotted this little thing hunched down in the shelter of the fence post. He stayed long enough for me to get six shots off and then he was gone.

All C&C welcome, good or bad.

Nikon D300 with Nikon 600/F4 @ F4, 1/200, ISO 400, EV 0. HH from the window of the van.

Well spotted Mike and the soft lighting has really brought out the detail in this fine portrait.

This is very nice Mike. I also like the soft lighting here and I like the way the background has a slightly darker band of colour.

A lovely gentle composition, beautifully detailed bird with a great background to set off the Kestsrel. :toast:

Very nice and detailed shot. The background is great and sets off the kestrel beautifully.
