Still Have to wait and the price is high but should come down. I am really pleased about the 16million Pixels that suits me fine, but I would love to try it out for AF and high ISO performance.

Well lets hope the AF is spot on this time ?.Tho i cant see them making that mistake again ?.
Specs looks cracking. That price tag doesn't
I'm suprised they had called it the MARK IV, cuz the number 4 is bad luck in Japan!.Thought they might of jumped to 5.

its alot of dosh, the 7D specs arent too different and its only £1500 now.. Hopefully it will come down. again the price is $4995in the USA which is £2990 here in the UK. Shame bodies dont have international warranty. !!
The pricing as usual is a total farce with more than £1400 difference in pricing between US and UK prices.
As there's no duty on camera bodies (just VAT), there'll be more than a few will import gear again with that sort of differential, good for the UK trade deficit . Oh, and wait for the VAT increase arriving too, just as the deliveries start rolling... preorder/pay now and save £100.
Vincent LaForet has a sample video (no stills) on his site - Blog.
Low light shooting looks pretty decent... should be good for foxes/badgers etc

I think Canon are 'having a laugh' with the price - even a spare battery is £250. This is the first time that I won't be putting my name down for one of the first 1 series cameras especially after the initial fiasco with the 1DIII and as mentioned above how much cheaper it is in the US. At the moment I am reasonably happy with my 1D MkIII so unless the price drops considerably I won't be buying it.
I also think they have got it wrong with the pixel density 12 million would have been enough for any usage if the image quality is good and that if anything is what I think will suffer when they start to make the usual comparisons with Nikon!
I want one, of course I do ! But will wait for more tests and reports to be written before I take the final decision - the price will hopefully have dropped too.
My MKIII has been very good, but if the IV lives up to the specs, it'll be a great camera.

I have the 1Dmark3 and canon used up all there goodwill with me over the autofocus debacle. It was more there attitude than anything. If they want to make it up to us they should offer a special trade in price for 1D Mark3 owners. They could call it "cash for clunkers" or something snappy like that.

A slightly underwhelming update, and overpriced, Canon UK rip-off again.....
I would have prefered full frame, although for sports/wildlife photographers the 1.3 crop makes sense. Although the main reason I suspect is to maintain sales of the overpriced 1Ds.
Video was inevitable, although I expected much more in this area, maybe RAW capture like the RED cameras, and some better file format options.
I doubt the high ISO performance is significantly improved over the 1Dmk3 or 5Dmk2, it is still DIGIC IV, and having downloaded the ISO3200 from the Canon website it doesn't look that fantastic for a noise-reduced jpeg image. It will be very good though but I think the ISO 6400 and up will be emergency use only, press photographers will appreciate it though.
Auto Focus looks excellent on paper, I look forward to seeing some independent tests and analysis.
With the 7D available for £1299 at rgbtech now, I think I would wait until it's been out a couple of months to let the price drop, if I had the money that is, I'm skint

Neither the D3S or this new Canon are major steps forward. I think they are more in between models, slightly tweeked with a few more enhandements like HD video, which I wouldn't use anyway.
And 16 million pixels? Who cares! I hope the AF issues are solved for the Canon users.
Other then that I think both camera's are hugely overpriced and I think comes 2010 early 2011 they might well be replaced with more revolutionary models.

I wonder why you still have to have F2.8 lenses to make full use of the new auto focus system, if I read it right, pity they didn't take a leaf out of nikons book and allow you to have all your Cross type sensors no matter what lens you use.
Still it looks a interesting camera and as long as the auto focus doesn't have similar problems to the mk 3 I think it will be a excellent seller for Canon.
I have to admit, I am a bit underwelmed having read the specs knowing the RRP - I think Rene is correct.
I'll wait for a while - definately until March before any decision as first I want to see Rob Galibraths tests and then a significant price drop from RRP.

Having had a good play with the 7D last week I thought the autofocussing on it was sharp and fast: certainly in comparison to any Mark 3's I've used. ISO quality on JPEGs also clean as a whistle at 800 and pretty good at 1600 too (I won't go over 400 on my cutrrent kit).
Given this I'd expect the Mark 4 to be pretty smart and sharp - just a tad expensive for now though

At a price of 50% more than the 1d3 it's got to be a joke.

It will drop in price by Focus next year.

Overall a solid upgrade but too expensive for me.
