Canon finally announced today a firmware update for the 5D2 to support 24p and 25p video, in this press release. That makes our 5D2's a serious video machine now.
Boy, Canon is really cranking out the announcements. It'd be nice if they cranked out some bodies and lenses into the stores!

I am with you about getting their new stuff into stores in large numbers. Canon is always slow, seems like the think making their stuff hard to get will build need and want for the products. Personnally, I think they would sell more in the end if they just send the stuff out so people who want the stuff can get it.

It would be nice if they got the 5D MK II out there at a price I could afford but that won't happen as long as people are still buying them at the current price which they are. I would get the original 5D but I use live view to manual focus all the time. I may have to settle with the 7D as my next camera upgrade for now and get the 5D MK II when they release the 5D MK III in a couple years because everyone will be selling them off so they can upgrade.

Hang in there Austin, it will get better and cheaper with each iteration. The 5D2 is actually a bargain compared against 2008 technology. A 21mp FF sensor with HD video last year at $2699 was considered NUTS, mainly because FF sensors aren't cheap to produce (look at the price of medium format digital backs!), and no other FF sensor camera was under 3 grand. Today the 5D2 is still a good price. In the next two years I bet we see FF sensors rivalling the 5D2 for under 2 grand. Look at the 7D, it does it already except for the crop sensor. It won't be long!
