Thanks all! Jack, I did almost enter this one in the contest, but I had my friends give me vote on whether I should enter this pic, or another as my third pic, and this one narrowly lost.

Bryan, can you explain how you made this shot?

Very cool--surreal shot!

Sure Bill, this was shot with a 18-135mm @ 28mm, DX sensor size, 13 sec at f/11. I would normally have shot at f/16, but I did not want the degree of blur in the clouds that the 26 sec exposure would have created. This was shot shortly after sundown (you can see the first star of the night beneath the moon), and the lighting conditions were darkening rapidly, so maintaining the shutter speed that I wanted while waiting for the perfect cloud formation to hover by was tough. I was really going for the moon being partially obscured by clouds as you see it, and I don't think it would be near the picture without that element. Unfortunately right after i packed everything up a UFO hovered right into the scene and made off with a cow. Thanks again!

Bryan, thanks for the info, it's a great photo. Pity about the UFO! Maybe next time?!

That doesn't seem weird at all to me. The yellow foliage would naturally be more reflective than the mountain.
Nice image Bryan. Nice balance between the color gradients and the location of the moon.
