I'm considering adding a screensaver to my limited product line. I've never built a screensaver before and have no idea where to start. Any recommendations for good software at a reasonable price that doesn't require an engineering degree to operate?

Since you're on a Mac, the only one worth considering is Axialis ... which outputs savers for both Mac/PC. I've used it for years, and I'll keep recommending it until something better comes out.

On most modern operating systems, the user can select a folder of photos to use as the screensaver. Maybe just distribute a zip archive? Lots easier than compiling a self-playing app, both for you and the user...

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll look into Axialis.

Didn't realize you are on a Mac. In that case, check out Fotomagico:

It can output screensavers but only for Mac OSX.

Another option is to run a virtual Windows machine on your mac and use ProShow Gold.
