You have found the color! I like the lighting on this one. Looks like the clouds parted just enough to get some light in patches wtih shadows in between.
I know what you mean about losing image quality. I've noticed the same thing lately, but have not taken the time to figure out why.

Crazy things happen to me too when I compress images.
this is some of the best color i've seen this Fall and the highlighting of the slopes in the bg is fantastic - great atmoshere too.

Check which color space you are using for your posted pic. I find that srgb is best.
