Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) – Essex, UK.
Canon 1Ds Mk2, 500/f4, WH2 + Gitzo GT3530LSV.
Manual exposure mode f6.3, 1/400s, iso 320.
RAW image processed in Capture One; sharpened in Photoshop CS4, full frame.
The histogram for this image is mostly in the lower parts of the tonal range register. If I had been shooting in Av-mode, or checking the histogram on the back of the camera and adopting “shoot-to-the-right” guidance, rather than shooting in accordance with my Sekonic meter, I would have undoubtedly pushed all the tonal values to the right in this image and lost the dramatic quality of the lighting.
As ever excellent, however I too feel that it is just a little too low as I feel that the feet are touching the bottom of the frame, even though they are not.... Always enjoy your foxes...

Hi Phil,
Cracking fox shot as to be expected from you. I do not always favor the "shoot right" policy and in this type of lighting a little left of center is better for sure.
