Hi All,

Something a bit different from me. Took this today on the way home from work. Only took the camera because I thought I might have a chance with some Lapwing that have been hanging around the fields, so I was facing completely the wrong way! Turned to look at the field opposite, and realised there was a whole flock of Knot sitting there! I watched for a bit, thinking, any minute now, they'll be up, and guess what - I missed it. Anyhew, I was treated to my own private flight display, and it was beautiful to watch. Managed to get this as they began to settle in a different field. Just what I needed after a pants week at work!

Not my normal thing, but I liked it!

D300, 50-500mm lens (thanks Drew  )
230mm, 1/500sec @ f8, 250ISO

Tweak to curves and levels, noise ninja.

All C and C welcome!

Thanks for looking.

Hi Dawn,

It must have been a great display and a superb end to a week's work! Unfortunately I agree with Peter that there is a lack of a focal point which lets the image down imho.

Sorry Dawn but I have to agree with previous comments

Well I like it. The lack of a focal point is what makes it for me. It captures the mood beautifully IMHO.

Thanks all for your honest critique, I'm glad you like it David, I liked the way the birds were drifting down through the sky, just seemed to portray the calmness I felt while watching!

Thanks guys. :toast:

I like it too, simply because it appears to be above the clouds, I think (not too sure), if you crop out the top four birds it becomes a little bit stronger...
