This was taken at Ramona falls. I played around with quite of few comps and I ended up liking this one the best. D2x, 80-200f 2.8 ed afs nikor @86mm, F11, 1sec with a polarizer.
Wonderful treatment of Ramona. It's one of my "nemesis" waterfalls because by the time I drive and hike there, the light streams in and the dynamic range is too much for my camera to record. I never thought to pick an area and lose the rest of the cascade.

Very nice! I like the mini-rainbows and the tight comp. Glad to see I'm not the only one still using the D2x.

Thanks Marylynne and Mark. I love my D2x. Right now I see no reason to get a different camera. I usually shoot at ISO 100 and the results are pretty close to the newer cameras, except for the full frame DSLR's. It has a weather proof, pro body that has more functions than I will ever need. When I bought it new, I said this would be my camera for the next 7-10 years.

Absolutely brilliant! I've seen too many silky waterfalls cascading through the green. This is a refreshing escape. I'd love to see this printed large, say 24x36, framed without glass.

Thanks for the comments folks. Ramona Falls trailhead is off the Lolo Pass road. Take the trailhead turn off which is about five miles from US 26. Then follow the road all the way and veer left at Lost Creek Campground. Its about an 7-8 mile round trip with a gradual but not steep trail. The footbridge over the Sandy River is usually taken out around the first of November. I've made the hike around 10 times.

Very nice, well done.
Erik, what is usually the best time of year to shoot these falls? Do they dry up in the summer?
