Shenandoah Snow
After having to cancel my trip to the San Juans bc of a bout of swine flu, I thought my goal of getting some nice fall shots was bust. But we got lucky here with a freak snow in Shenandoah NP last weekend. Since I can't enter any into the contest, I thought I would share a couple this way.

Tough break with the flu ed. It as been making the rounds at my house as well. Fortunately nothing severe. Looks like some difficult conditions to work with given the fall colors and snow. The highlights appear to be clipped in some of your images. #2 is my favorite from the group as it reminds me of the time I saw a bear out on the blueridge pkwy.

Love the bear shot and #4 with the sweet light and the dusting of snow. Looks like you you certainly made up for missing the San Juans. Just got over the flu myself, glad to hear you made it through.

Bear shot is great. Also I like #3 for some reason, but I think it would be nice if you could crop out the shadow part (bottom 1"). Not sure if you have more image to work with, but I find that section a little dull.

Can't go wrong with bear photos. Nice shots.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I agree with the cropping suggestion on #3 and the highlight can be brought in better on that foreground snow.

Can I ask a "dumb" question....... when you save your images to bring them below the 200KB limit for this site, how are you doing that. I found that simply resizing to 600x400 and saving even on the mid range of the jpg scale still didn't get it small enough. I know some of you guys also have really big image files so there must be a better way to preserve the range, depth and colors of your images than I am using. Thanks!

Sorry you caught the flu, but you came away with some sweet shots. Love # 3 and the bear shots.
