We had a great gathering this weekend despite the wind and too much sunshine. The color is very spotty on the mountain. Cedar Falls should peak next weekend.
We started off this morning with one of the best sunrises I have ever seen on Petit Jean. I'm sure someone will post it.
I chose to show Lake Bailey from about a hour after sunrise. The winds had calmed down overnight and the rolling clouds filled the morning sky.
Stay tuned for more pics as members get out of the woods.
Thanks to David Hatfield for loaning me one of his D300's for the weekend.

Very nice Mike, wonderful reflection image. It's wonderful to hear all had a great gathering.
I'm waiting with like a 5 year old on Christmas eve for more....

I wished I could posted several hundred from this weekend. There will be some great shots posted as soon as the group catch their breaths. I'll post some pics as I touch them up at http://www.pbase.com/mikehall/petit_jean_state_park . It may take me a few days to get them all done. So check back towards the mid week. I will do a quick retouch and post them on pbase today then spend some time tru the week on making them better.
This one is the dam for Lake Bailey. It shows how the color is coming along in the area.

Wow nice shots! I really like the cloud reflections in the first one.
Lovely shots, Mike! I guess this is one time I can legitimately say, "Gee, you must have a really nice camera!"
It was my pleasure to make it available and it's clear you put it to some good use!

Ya, nice camera! I'm glad I got to use ours all by myself! Nice shots! I like the first one too. The color is perfect and I like the dead trees in the foreground.

I walked in the house from the long weekend and used my last bit of energy to post this shot before heading off for a nap. I only bumped the saturation a bit and adjusted the black levels.
I didn't like my original framing (framed with half sky/half reflection) so I did crop it to what you see. I liked the reflection more and cropped it to take the attention more towards the water than the sky. Wished I had shot it this way instead of having to crop. It look like that in person. No magic needed in PS.
EDIT: I need to wake up- I did clone out some dead tree limbs in the water (lower left).

Great to see you again this weekend, Mike. I really like both of your compositions here, and the water looks perfect...really nice work overall.

I really like the colors and reflection in the first image Mike. The white object at UL draws my eye away from the beautiful scene and since it's so small I'd consider cloning it out.
I like the red/green combination of the foliage in the second image set against the falls. Nice work.

Both are nice shots Mike. I especially like the second one.
Mike great job on both the images. You found some really nice color for these. Thanks for going to the roost with me also. I really enjoyed going with you guys.
