This is the first thing I have processed from a bunch of images this weekend. This is a three shot exposure blend. It seemed like I was shooting directly into the sun all weekend. I feel like this one is still a work in progress so any critiques are welcomed. Hopefully within a few days I can have most of my shots done and shared with you guys.

I had a blast with everyone this weekend as usual and I am ready to do it again. Rod sorry you couldn't make it. Nine workshops sounds like a lot of work and good luck with that transmission.

Looks good Matt. The contrast seems a bit strong on my monitor, but that could just be my monitor....It is way better than mine...Mine would have been spectacular had I remembered I had the ISO ran up to 1600 from the night before! That's what happens when this photog runs to shoot with little sleep and not enough coffee! I will although try this shot again from this perspective when the chance arises.

Both shots are epic and I would be proud to have either of them in my files. Great sunrise to be out there.

Karla you aren't the only one to do that. My first 10 or so shots saturday morning were at ISO 400. I am in the backroom on the old monitor which typically is a little dark and warm but your shot still looks good.

On my shot after I did all my levels, dodging and burning, and saturation adjustments the last thing I did was add a linear contrast in curves. I was back and forth about keeping the contrast and I don't think I am completely decided on it. I like the added contrast because it makes the ground a little darker and the river stand out a little more, but I still am a little undecided. I have it saved as a 1 gig 16 bit tiff with all the layers so adjustments should be easy enough.

It's really amazing to see shot placement and the different ideas. It just shows you that there is a whole lot more to a sunrise. There were about eight of us and we all have something different. I like a little contrast to make things pop a little more. My shot is a three shot blend to lighten up the foreground rocks and the fields down below. Can't wait to see the other sunrise post.

I think it is funny that we all shot for probably 10 minutes but all three of these shots were taken just seconds apart.

Matt,
Great shots when the conditions were problematic. The sweeping curve of the river really pulls you to the back.

Sorry I couldn't make it. Guess I'll have to wait till spring to see everyone.

Matthew, great color in the clouds. Did you see King Kong? Mike and Karla, you takes on the sunrise are also very nice! It looks like I should have stayed Saturday night

Matthew, you did see us in at the old house shooting in the rain. The trashbags were a blessing till late afternoon... If you ever see that with mazda 626 again, please say hello.

Great shot Matthew! I love the reflections in the water.

Karla and Mike, WOW! Sucks about the ISO, but we've all done it. I've even shot a long star stail photo in jpeg.

Aaron I thought about stopping, but I just wasn't sure it was you. I had my grandparents with me anyway. They wanted to see some fall color so I thought I could use that as an excuse to do some color scouting.

Nice capture Matt. I like how the river curves through the frame. My only suggestion would be to try darkening the bright, small reflections, and the buildings in the lower right so that the eye is not drawn away from that spectacular sky and reflections in the river.

Hey Matt really a beautiful shot. The sky color is just awesome. You did a good job on the sun in this one also.
