Seems ages since I was here last, I've been busy (work and a serious illness/death in my close family)
Red-throated Diver (Loon) Gavia stellata at Chelmsford has been on a town centre lake for a week or so now.
Uncropped, Canon EOS 1Ds3, 600mm f4IS, 250 iso, 1/125 at f7.1, -1 EV
Gitzo 5541LS Tripod (my old original Kennett made Benbo finally died, the leg locking bolt broke, it is being repaired though) and Wimberley, DPP and CS3
Lots of new work on my Flickr gallery..... and a new website almost ready to go.

Love the colours and BG and action caught but for me I would like a bit more space to the left for the bird to 'move' into, seen your nice flickr images too, very nice

The framing here is deliberate, Craig! I had noted the way the water flew from the wingtips on that backstroke, sometimes the recognised conventions of composition tend to frame out parts of the action, that if included in the image, tell a better story.
Admittedly on this wing flapping occasion the spray was not quite the spectacle it had been previously!

A flurry of movement, very well captured indeed.

Brilliant and dramatic, stand out for its originality and strength.
