Very Large Array - in fog!
From a recent trip to Socorro, New Mexico to visit family and see the Very Large Array and Trinity Site.

I intended to only photograph the VLA at sunset but my family decided they wanted to see it so we went back the next morning for sunrise. I Got lucky and captured the array in fog.

Lots more on my website, www.AdamSchallau.com

Here's another with a fog bow.

Wow! These are great, Adam. I especially like the second one. Very ethereal.

Great images Adam, that second one is terrific. I've never seen anything like that.

Fog Bow: A disruption of a natural layer of fog produced by the Mother Ship's cloaking device.

Those are really nice images. I was also curious about the "fog bow" but sure enough good ol' Wikepdia has a great description of the phenomena: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fog_bow

Thanks,

Jeff

Best images I've ever seen from the VLA! Congratulations!!
I've been lucky enough to capture one image of a white rainbow but certainly never had such an interesting object as a subject.

Nice shots Adam! It's interesting they're pointing in different directions. Usually they have them pointed one way. That fog-bow is very cool. never seen one myself.

As I mentioned to you before, these are just so unbelievably cool! Makes my windmill farm in fog pics seem so ordinary.

Adam, I have to agree, these two images are stunning!

The fog-bow is very impressive. I can't say say I have seen one of these before.

Wow, they're both really cool.

Cool shots, Adam! The fog bow array looks positively nuclear.

Excellent series of shots, Adam. The whole website is great.

Jeez! That fog bow shot is surreal; don't usually see a fog bow that seems to extend above the fog.

If ever someone needs some shots of the VLA, these should be at the top of their list.

Nice couple of images, looks "otherworldly."

Simply awesome! That has got to be a very rare situation to have fog in an area as arid as that is. :toast:

I've seen plenty of fog in Magdalena in the winter over the years, but I've never made it to the VLA in these conditions. You're a lucky (and talented) man, Adam!

I don't think I've ever seen a fog bow before. Very cool shots.

Very cool! The fog really adds to the image.
