Sandstone Crest
Last week, a friend from the East Coast asked me to guide him around the Page, AZ area on an all expense paid 'tour'.
How could I refuse? Naturally, he wanted to see (Lower) Antelope Canyon.
Y'know, as jaded as I get by the steep entry fees and the amount of folks that can crowd the place, there's really no other place on Earth like it. I'm constantly amazed at the colors that a camera sensor (or film) can 'see' that we don't, especially during long exposure times.

Wow! Sweet colors John. :toast:

One of the places I'd like to go sometime as I have never been. I will have to pick your mind sometime about this place.

Yep, no other place like it. Nice image by the way. Wonderful range of color and tones.

Yeah, that's really beautiful... nicely done. Though I've never been there, it seems like the kind of place with infinite photographic possibilities and it's always nice to see a new view of a familiar location. :toast:

That's a great shot! I hope Rene sees this post because he's been dying to shoot that feature and although I've told him just where it is, he still couldn't find it last weekend.

John,
Not too familiar with your photographic competence prior to meeting you a couple years ago but I must tell you that the images you have been submitting in the past year or two are just excellent. We all kind of kid about quitting our day jobs and relying on our photography to make an income (all of us of course except for Guy, Nat and a couple others). You may want to seriously consider the move.

I think it's fair to say "you got the mojo".

Beauty. A real nice variety of colors in this. My only minor suggestion might be to see if you can coax a little more detail out of the right side shadow area.

While it does not make me want to shuck my clothes and grind corn  this is a feast for the eyes. The different colors are all fabulous. Ditto what Jim said.

Thanks, folks!
I can definitely tease some more detail out of that shadowed area, Guy.

Glad you posted a similar image at a slightly different time and angle, Joe. \
Now at least I know I wasn't hallucinating!

Beautiful rendition John, I love the colors you get this time of year when the sun is a little lower and the light doesn't get all the way into the canyon.

Subtle colors, eye candy!

That's a beauty, John. What an incredible place.

Wow - what an amazing mix of colors in this shot. Love to see the greater range of colors in this one as compared to most of them. Well done! I've never been there in the slots, and really need to get there some day soon!

Very nice color display, and I like the perspective.

Ooooh, great concept. Love the cresting wave image. Hard to get fresh perspectives here (at least for someone who sees so many photos of the area), but you've pulled it off nicely.

Looks great, John--strong but natural colors. Almost makes me want to go back to fight the crowds...
