Taken earlier in the year during last light. The sun had been setting for a while with beautiful light catching the long grasses. As the sun went down I had a couple of opportunities to take some shots.
Very nice shot Ian shame about the grass stalk going up the body but but no big deal and the lights lovely
By the way I misread the title and thought it said Curlew in glasses

Nice! I like the compostion with all the grasses and the open bill. Low angle is great. I do wonder about the colours though - not sure if the white balance is right?

Very nice Ian, the grass is fine with me. I see what Ian means about the wb, the curlew has a blue tinge, although I expect this is caused by the cool evening light and is how you saw it.
Cheers,
Lewis.

This is a lovely shot Ian,and I too wondered about the colour. I would have thought an evening shot would have had a warmer tinge maybe? It almost looks frosty .
Still nice though.

Lovely image but I agree with John, maybe a slight colour boost as it looks very blue.

The colour does look slightly cool but easily rectified. I'm not bothered by the grass stem. Very nice image.
When I first opened this I thought 'what a lovely frosty morning' but having read your post I too was left wondering if there is a cast. I think I'd be inclined to leave it as it is as, although it isn't the colour I'd expect to see at last light, the image is actually very nice as seen.

Curlew in glasses (Ian)? Now, that would be a picture worth posting. Nice, atmospheric shot.
I know how hard it is to get Curlews out of the grass and into the open, great effort, although I agree about the cast, perhaps a slightly higher color temp would help too given the time of day.

Yes maybe warming the image a little would improve it - but very nice to capture it calling!
