Winter's Coming to Crested Butte
In anticipation of the winter season coming to Gunnison/Crested Butte, I took a day trip to Crested Butte last week to get some snow-capped peak shots to whet my whistle for when this area really gets slammed with the snow. I don't have many snowy/winter type shots in my portfolio, so am anxious to hopefully get some great images this winter to add to it.
I guess I would call this a transitional shot: snow on the peaks, but not quite in the valleys yet. This image was taken in the gothic area near Crested Butte. It's amazing how the landscape changes over just a couple of months! I was pleased that there was a blue sky, but with some clouds. I could have sat here all day.

Great idea including the foreground grasses in your composition!
You're about to experience a great adventure....Gunnison in the winter.
Stay warm!

+1 on the impact of the foreground grasses. Nice inclusion Kelly.

Ya, those grasses in the foreground really make this image - nice contrast. Somehow this feels both warm and crisp at the same time - like the sun on your back on a cool fall morning. Well done.

A very very nice shot, and I can't wait for those deep snow shots.
